Dufour 35 Sailboat for Sale - SOLD

SOLD

Description

Interlude is a Dufour 35, built in La Rochelle, France. She is a strongly built and well designed fiberglass production boat -- with thought to relatively fast, comfortable, offshore (or inshore) passages.

Interlude has a large fin keel for stability and a fully protected rudder behind a full skeg. The hull is blister-free and she has a solid deck.

Accommodations

Accommodations are immense for a boat of this size. She can sleep between 7 and 8 people on 2 double berths, 2 pilot berths, a large quarter berth and settee. The molded interior liner, large hatches and deadlights coupled with the pleasant mahogany interior make for a very clean and comfortable space.

Upon entering the interior, there is a large galley on the port side -- with double sinks with hot and cold pressured water, 3-burner ENO propane stove and oven, holding-plate refrigeration (with remote compressor), large pantry, and plenty other nooks and crannies for utensils, knives, food and pot storage. A neat feature is the cupboard that folds down to form extra counter space. The utensil drawer is also an innovative space-saving design. On the starboard side is a large navigation table with plenty of storage around and under the table. Beside the navigation table is the 12v and 110v breaker panels. Above it is the fixed-mount VHF (a handheld VHF is also included) and behind it is a very large quarter berth (larger than it first appears). A Sony CD/MP3 stereo is mounted next to the quarter berth and provides sound to two large salon speakers and two cockpit-mounted speakers.

Ahead of the galley and navigation table is the salon. A large, overhead tinted hatch and two in-hull deadlights bathe the area with natural light. The table folds out to accommodate an increasing number of dinner guests or lowers to provide an extra berth. Two surprisingly comfortable pilot berths are located adjacent to the deadlights, above the main salon seating -- guests can cozy into these berths safely secured with lee boards. And a French-built boat is not complete without the built-in wine racks under both settees.

The cabin is kept warm by a large floor-mounted Sigmar diesel heater -- the flickering flame through the windows provides for a very nice ambiance.
Above the starboard salon is a wall mounted Samsung monitor that can be included in the sale if the buyer wishes. A laptop connected to the stereo and monitor can provide endless entertainment.

Forward of the salon is the head compartment with two doors for privacy. On the starboard side of the head compartment is the vanity with a hand-held shower and plenty of storage above and below. On the port side is the Jabsco manual head, large hanging locker, extra storage, and the day-tank for the diesel heater (gravity-fed for operation without electricity). A Paloma on-demand hot water heater is mounted on the bulkhead. The head feeds into a large custom poly holding tank with macerator to pump overboard or through the deck fitting.

Forward of the head is the owner's cabin. A double pullman berth is on the port side of the cabin and hanging locker on the starboard. There is extra shelves around the cabin and plenty of storage underneath the berth. Another large tinted hatch provides light and star-gazing from the berth.

Cockpit and on Deck

Interlude benefits from a large, deep, protected cockpit for comfortable and dry sailing in many conditions. She is outfitted with wheel steering and the cockpit is protected by a large dodger and bimini. Underneath the port seat is a deep locker. Aft is a relatively large lazarette. Two large Lewmar double-speed winches are within easy reach and two smaller Lewmar winches are mounted on the cabin. Signet Marine instruments display depth, windspeed, wind direction, and knot speed on a panel above the companionway.

Forward on the almost flush deck is the Yamaha generator (more on this later). Midships is the Marco Polo anodized aluminum mast with internal halyards; matching boom supported by a rigid vang, and two Lewmar winches on the mast. One large genoa is furled with the Hood furler. 3 secondary Jibs (including storm jib), 1 main, 1 trisail, and a spinnaker round out the complement of sails. The spinnaker is supported by a matching anodized aluminum pole which is mounted on deck.

The primary anchor is a CQR with 100 feet of heavy chain (typically oversized for the boat -- but matches the manual windlass) with an additional 300 feet of 3-strand nylon rode. A Danforth anchor with chain (est. 40') and double-braided nylon rode is the secondary anchor.

Hybrid Propulsion

The addition of an electric auxiliary motor, built by Electric Yacht, has enhanced Interlude immensely -- providing instant, reliable, and peaceful cruising with almost no maintenance, smell, or fumes. Easy wine and cheese afternoons or quietly supplementing low-wind sailing is now possible. The deck-mounted smooth, quiet, and reliable Yamaha 3000is generator provides extended range as well as full creature comforts at anchor.

Here are some advantages of hybrid/electric propulsion:
- very reliable (starts everytime)
- very little maintenance
- can be refueled via multiple sources (wind, solar, generator, sailing)
- every part is easily replaceable with off-the-shelf, relatively inexpensive components (carry a spare motor!)
- no fumes while underway
- no cabin smell or "boat smell" lingering on your clothes
- much quieter than a diesel
- no warm-up time -- easy to leave the dock for a quick harbour cruise
- anchoring/docking is easier (you can hear everyone, and there is more torque for maneuvering)
- the generator provides full A/C power at anchor for battery charging/movies/blenders/etc.
- blend motoring/sailing at any time (leave it "on" so you have full throttle whenever needed)
